AI agents retrieve, synthesize, and act on information across multiple sources in real time—capabilities that existing data governance frameworks weren't designed to handle. They can breach or misuse data at machine speed, while approval processes and access controls remain built around human decision-making cycles. Security teams haven't mapped most of these attack surfaces yet, and the mismatch between agent speed and human-paced oversight is operational, not theoretical.
