Attackers Are Weaponizing Legitimate Infrastructure to Bypass Trust

Cisco's research documents a critical inversion: the trust entities earned through legitimate operation now serves as cover for attack delivery, making it harder for defenders to distinguish malicious traffic from normal operations. Organizations can no longer rely on reputation or provenance alone as security signals. The attack surface has shifted from compromised unknowns to compromised knowns, requiring defenders to rearchitect detection and response systems accordingly.
