BMW's completion of the FSCM project marks a functional shift in automotive interiors: wood-fiber composites are now durable enough to replace conventional plastics and foams in high-stress components like seats, not just trim. The significance lies in collapsing the trade-off between weight reduction (fuel efficiency, EV range) and sustainability; manufacturers can now compete on both simultaneously.
