European utilities are accelerating power plant construction timelines in response to hyperscaler data center orders, collapsing what used to be 5-10 year development cycles into 2-3 years. This creates a capacity constraint: grids now face competing demands from AI infrastructure operators (who can pay premium prices for dedicated capacity) and existing industrial and residential users. National power systems must now make real trade-offs in how they are built out rather than simply adding incremental capacity.
