Wearable devices are generating continuous health streams that overwhelm clinical workflows built for episodic care. The mismatch between signal volume and physician capacity risks turning useful data into noise. The challenge isn't collection but triage: determining which alerts require intervention, which patterns matter for individual patients, and how to integrate real-time monitoring into existing EHR systems without drowning providers in false positives. Without solving this integration problem, wearables remain consumer gadgets rather than clinical tools, leaving providers forced to choose between ignoring data or spending unsustainable time validating readings.
