The dairy industry is rebranding milk as a "focus beverage" through mega-influencers like Harper Zilmer. Legacy consumer categories now compete for Gen Z attention against algorithmically-optimized energy drinks and TikTok culture itself. Separately, teenagers are sourcing cancer drugs online to chase "heightmaxxing"—a practice tied to blocked traditional status pathways (athletic scholarships, modeling). When conventional routes feel unavailable, some pursue extreme biohacking with pharmaceutical risk for marginal physical gains. Wellness influencer culture and unregulated online markets have enabled this self-experimentation despite serious medical consequences. Both trends show how social media has fragmented consumer loyalty and institutional trust, whether in the USDA food pyramid or doctor recommendations.
