Google has systematically deprioritized blog content in search results over the past ten years through algorithm changes designed to surface "authoritative" sources—which happen to be large media companies and official platforms that Google can more easily monitor and monetize. This has starved independent creators of the discovery mechanism that once made blogging viable, concentrating attention and ad revenue among fewer, larger players while reducing structural diversity across the internet. The platform that enabled the blog boom now profits from its decline.
