New York venues are refusing entry to anyone wearing Meta's consumer AR hardware, treating ambient recording technology as a venue security and privacy issue rather than a fashion choice. Unlike phones that can be pocketed, glasses are worn openly and continuously, making it impossible for venues to verify consent or control what's being captured inside. If the ban spreads across nightlife and hospitality, it could fragment where Meta's glasses can actually be worn socially.
