Northrop Grumman's Mission Robotic Vehicle extends satellites through in-orbit servicing instead of discarding $500 million hardware at end-of-life. If autonomous refueling and repairs prove cheaper and faster than launching new units, it collapses the traditional satellite replacement cycle and redistributes billions in procurement spending. Constellation operators (Amazon, SpaceX, OneWeb) built massive fleets expecting multi-decade lifespans they can't currently achieve; servicing directly addresses that constraint.
