Removing Section 230 protections would devastate small community platforms and independent forums by exposing them to ruinous litigation over user-generated content, while large companies like Facebook could absorb legal costs and hire armies of moderators—turning a tech regulation into a competitive moat. Weakening the liability shield intended to protect publishers would eliminate the only viable competitors to incumbents by making niche platforms economically unviable.
