AR-enabled eyewear promises to change how fans consume live sports—instant replays, player stats, spatial visualization—but the technology arrives burdened by privacy anxieties and surveillance concerns that traditional glasses never triggered. Stadiums and leagues will need to engineer explicit consent mechanisms and broadcast-only data models (not face recognition or behavioral tracking) to move beyond the cultural assumption that connected eyewear is inherently surveillance infrastructure. One scandal involving fan data or unauthorized recording could poison adoption for years.
