Satellite connectivity is trickling down from niche outdoor and emergency devices into consumer pet products. As Starlink's constellation densifies and chipsets shrink, satellite fallback will likely become standard for premium trackers and wearables marketed as "always-on"—especially in rural markets where cell coverage is sparse. The constraint isn't adoption; it's pricing and latency. Consumer satellite services need to deliver reliability and battery life without making these devices unaffordable for typical pet owners.
