Ad Tech's Server-Side Shift Won't Escape Platform Control

Apple and Google's privacy moves have forced ad tech to migrate data collection and targeting logic from browsers to servers, but this merely relocates the problem rather than solves it—both companies control the operating systems, browsers, and devices where that server-side infrastructure still must operate. The actual constraint is access to reliable identity signals and conversion data, which iOS and Android gatekeeping makes scarce regardless of where processing happens. Server-side solutions amount to defensive consolidation that advantages the few ad networks (like Google's) that already own their supply chain vertically.
