LinkedIn's "Seems like AI slop" flag—launched in late July—accumulated over 1 million user votes in its first weeks. The volume signals that AI-generated content has become visibly pervasive enough on the platform that users are flagging it repeatedly. The metric matters less as validation of the button itself and more as a diagnostic: LinkedIn's feed, once relatively protected by professional norms and identity verification, is now drowning in low-effort AI content at scale. Rather than improve its ranking algorithm, the platform has externalized moderation to users. The button is a consumer affordance born from platform failure, not innovation.
