Nubia's Autonomous Phone Marks Shift From AI Assistant to AI Agent
Source: Yanko Design
Nubia's new device runs autonomous tasks without user prompts—a meaningful departure from the chatbot-style AI features Samsung, Apple, and Google have deployed. It is the first consumer phone designed around agentic AI that operates independently on behalf of the user, rather than merely responding to commands. If the autonomy model gains traction with consumers, it could reset expectations for how phones should work. The competitive threat is whether other manufacturers can build the OS-level infrastructure and user trust required to let phones make decisions unsupervised.
