ASML's Chip Tool Shortage Extends to 2030

ASML's production constraints are now the binding constraint on global semiconductor capacity for the next half-decade, not silicon supply or chip design. Five years ago, fabs competed to secure capital. Customers are hedging by pre-ordering equipment for 2029-2030, locking in today's prices and shifting inventory risk upstream. This will depress spot market pricing for older-generation tools while creating a two-tier market where only large players can afford forward commitments.
