Verso's Dual-Screen Phone Puts Note-Taking on the Back

Verso's approach surfaces a real friction point: smartphone screens have consolidated so many functions (messaging, email, calendar, social) that jotting down a quick thought now competes with notifications and context-switching. By moving notes to a rear e-ink display, the phone acknowledges that not all information needs the attention economy of a main screen, and that some tasks benefit from lower-stakes, distraction-free hardware. This is part of a broader design counter-movement against single-surface smartphones—similar to foldables or the resurgence of dedicated e-readers—driven by the recognition that screen real estate and cognitive load are distinct problems.
