AI agents won't replace Figma, but design collaboration is shifting
Source: UX and the City
The question of whether AI agents eliminate Figma's shared canvas reflects real anxiety about tool obsolescence, but the actual shift is different: design workflows are fragmenting as agents handle specific tasks (prototyping, asset generation, constraint-solving) while Figma remains the coordination layer. Designers are spending less time in production work and more time in orchestration—deciding what agents build, reviewing outputs, maintaining design systems across increasingly distributed workflows.
