Gen X embraces workplace AI while Gen Z resists

Glassdoor's employee review data shows a sharp generational split on AI adoption at work. Gen X workers are 14 percentage points more likely than Gen Z to speak positively about their companies' AI use, with millennials falling in between. Older workers likely feel more secure about their jobs and see their accumulated skills as less threatened by automation. Gen Z faces a different calculus: they're entering a labor market where digital fluency—traditionally their competitive edge—is rapidly becoming standard. For employers, AI implementation without addressing this generational anxiety risks morale and retention problems among the youngest talent.
